CDE (Capital Disposal Equipment)
Originally trading is "Canadian Disposal Equipment", Toronto-based CDE was producing this front loader as early as 1981, in 36 and 40 cubic yard capacities. Designed by Quinto De Filippi, this was an unusual looking front loader, with its massive appearance and large tailgate "bustle".
Inside, the packing system was also out of the ordinary:
An inside look reveals an interesting twist: cross-mounted, single stage cylinders (green highlights) drive the platen (blue) during the normal packing cycle, and this entire assembly rides atop a secondary sliding floor panel (red) which is in turn driven by a multiple-stage telescopic cylinder (brown) used to eject the load. Thus, the speed and force of the "half-pack" was obtained without the need for tipping at the disposal point
By the early 1990's, the company had kept the CDE moniker, but was now going by "Capital Disposal Equipment". In addition to the front loader, a roll-off and transfer trailers, a rear loader was also available as pictured at left.
Nothing else is known about the rear loader, though it appears to be of the conventional slide-sweep type with all packing cylinders mounted internally.
Pictured above, the Jumbo II QRX40 front loader combined the packing system of the original front loader with a light weight circular body, and is one of the last known CDE models. At some point during the 1990's, they presumably went out of business or were absorbed by another company.
