MacLOAD and Others

Smaller capacity versions (through 22cm) on two and three axle chassis were badged as MacLOAD for domestic & trade waste. The packer mechanism is essentially the same as on the MacREL. Below we see a sharp-looking two-axle version used by Grundon:

Next, a Cawley three-axle MacLOAD handles the popular 1100 litre roll-top bin...

..and the result at the tip

The so-called Paladin bins were perhaps the world's first successful commercial trash containers. They were introduced in England by Pagefield nearly two decades before the containerization of America began in earnest during the 1950's. Some of these round bins are still in use, and this Cleanaway MacLOAD was equipped to handle them in the 1980s:

Below is a MacPAC sideload packer with binlift:

For cleanup, MacKrill also sold the Haller System container washing body:

BY 1993, Haller UK was formed whereby that firm assumed direct marketing of their product in England. Undoubtedly, the loss of the popular MacREL and MacLOAD product was devastating to DME, and they ceased operation in the mid-nineties.
