Glover, Webb & Liversidge

RAMILLIES REAR LOADER

The Dual Tip was followed by a compression rear loader, the Ramillies, again similar to Shelvoke & Drewry's Pakamatic. The company favoured Karrier chassis and had a good working relationship with Karrier.

Though basically the same in function (and appearance) as the S & D Pakamatic, Glover utilized a completely different packer blade suspension system. Instead of the usual "inverted drawer" type packer blade, traveling on tracks and or slides, Ramillies packer blade was guided by swinging links following a gentle arc up into the body opening. A follower plate allowed for continuous loading/packing operation.

Unloading was by conventional means, with a tailgate hinged to the body side walls, which automatically raised upwardly as the body was tipped. A later variant called the Binmaster was equipped with a high mounted aperture for container loading. Twin cylinders pushed a swinging packer ram which appears to be somewhat similar to their old Loadmaster of the 1950's.
