The 1960 Colectomatic Mark II was a big improvement over its predecessor, and was the first rear load packer to utilize a telescopic cylinder for full ejection dumping. Additionally, the hydraulic circuit was designed to allow the ejector panel to move forward incrementally as the body was filled, and thus ushered in the the modern era of high compaction refuse trucks. Heil also greatly simplified the packer mechanism, adding independent cylinders to raise the trough/bucket, and to raise the tailgate. The packer panel cylinders were relocated inside and above the panel. With Mark III and 3000 badges, it remained virtually unchanged until it was discontinued sometime in the late 1970's.
