TYPE 205 "ROTOPRESS"
On an exhibition of sanitation trucks in Berlin, Germany in 1977, KUKA showcased their complete new program of garbage trucks,
the KUKA trio: VarioPress 209, BullPress 219, and the new Type 205 RotoPress.
This new generation RotoPress replaced the old 215G, and the above picture shows the first version of the 205. This version, with an orange-colored body is very, very rare. I am not sure how many of these were produced, possibly as few as one or two examples. This is the only picture I have of this earliest type of RotoPress 205.
The more familiar 205 with the silver-color body, which we all know today, arrived for 1978 and is shown below.

TYPE 211: NEW SERIES "VARIOPRESS"
The VarioPress 209 (previous page) was unsuccessful, and in 1982 KUKA came with a completely new VarioPress model, the Type 211. The first VarioPress 211 types had the same storage body as the old 209, with the aluminium plates on the sides, while later models were made completely out of solid steel. In the next set of pictures you can see the new slide cylinder arrangement, now being mounted parallel to the slide panel:

TYPE 212: NEW SERIES "BULLPRESS"
In this series of photos, we see the all-new BullPress Type 212, which now shared its packer geometry with the Variopress 211, as well as the new Vario's all-steel body construction. You will also notice the "FAUN-KUKA" badges on these pictures. In 1983, FAUN took over KUKA-Umwelttechnik, and for a period their products were badged with both names. The story of FAUN will be covered in a future article.
