Rey SITA
(Societe Industrielle de Transports Automobiles)

Five years before the Gar Wood Load-Packer, a fleet of Fernand Rey's trucks were in the service of Paris contractor SITA. At a glance, this 1934 "Reyloader" shows many of the features of modern rear loaders; steel body with reinforcing braces, low-loading hopper, and a tailgate assembly that is hoisted clear of the body when dumping. More importantly, Rey applied hydraulic power to the short-stroke packing ram at a time when mechanical means were more the norm. This packing method would eventually be very popular in Europe, being used on the famous SD Pakamatic. Following World War II, Rey would be associated with the new conglomerate SEMAT, and another of his designs would gain fame in the form of the SD Revopak.

This was taken at the 2002 Paris expo, and that is all I know about it. Please contact CRT if you have any further information.
