Oregon-Western Industries (OWI)
Tigard, Oregon

Oregon-Western Industries was founded in December, 1994, and obtained the rights to build the Retriever satellite side loader from Peerless. Production was moved to Tigard, Oregon, about three miles north of the old Peerless factory in Tualatin, where a PO box was maintained. An intriguing side note is that OWI was listed as having manufactured a rear loader in the 1997 Public Works Manual, although at present, no other information is known about that product. OWI's tenure building the Retriever was short, as they sold out to Heil Environmental in 1998. Heil still manufactures the body under their own name to this day. OWI Inc. was officially dissolved in November, 2001.

The only known OWI ad from 1996. OWI was the third company to manufacture the Retriever since the Parks family licensed the design in 1981.

These grainy images are the only known photos of an OWI Retriever. This 1995 Chevy 3500HD was sold in 2004.
