Truck of the Month: 1967 Gar Wood T-140FL


No other refuse truck before or since has attempted to achieve what Gar Wood tried with their T-100 series. Front wheel drive, integrated body and chassis, and a combination front and rear loader set this behemoth far apart from the pack. Despite this ambitious design, the T-100 was ultimately doomed and undoubtedly contributed to the failure of Gar Wood early in the next decade. If not for a crash engineering program by new owner Sargent Industries (which spawned the famous 900 series), this may have turned out to be one of the last of the breed.
