1946 Heil Colecto-Pak
The popular Colecto-Pak bucket loader would mark Heil's entry into the post-war refuse body field. The simple and inexpensive design of the bucket-loader body convinced many municipalities to replace their open collection trucks. The Colecto-Pak was novel in that it delivered a partial compaction to the load by merely connecting the packer plate to to the lift arms with two heavy tie rods. The Colecto-Pak may thus be considered a forerunner of modern half-pack refuse trucks
