1970 Western Barrel-Snatcher "Son of Godzilla"
Beginning in the mid 1960's, Scottsdale, Arizona became became the cradle of design for a new generation of automated refuse loading equipment that would sweep the southwestern U.S. and eventually the world. Perhaps none of the trucks to emerge from that city was more menacing than the aptly named Son of Godzilla, a gigantic machine that easily hoisted and emptied containers up to 300 gallons capacity. The second of the Godzilla series, the "Son" was based on a Maxon 35 yard packer riding atop a Diamond Reo CF5542 half-cab chassis.
