1960 (circa) Advance Rubbish Accumulator
Made by Advance Axle and Trailer Company of Los Angeles, the Accumulator was a hoist attachment for non-compaction bodies, designed to empty standard front-load style refuse containers. The rails for the rear hoist trolly extend across the top of the structure, allowing refuse to be distributed evenly throughout the body. This type of truck could also be used for residential service, and was later adapted to handle grease pickup for rendering plants. Variations of these lightweight body-hoist combinations remained popular in southern California (even as the era of the "bucket loader" had otherwise ended ), being built by various regional manufacturers.
