1949 Haller Schneckenmullwagen

An early design by the German firm of Haller was this interesting truck that combined elements of both KUKA and Norba designs: A narrow width rear drum section rotated as scuppers carried refuse to the top of the tailgate. There, a long screw mounted inside the top of the body moved the material forward and trimmed the load. Discharge was by conventional hoist. Truck is fitted with a dustless loading system, which were in use in some European cities as far back as the 1930's. This photo is from Hamburg, 1949.
