- SUMMER 2008 -
1950 Roto-Pac

The second generation Roto-Pac, made by the City Tank Corporation of Corona, New York represented a radical change from the original design. Announced in the fall of 1950, the new design utilized a chain driven flight-escaltor system which raised refuse up the inclined tailgate where a reciprocating packer plate helped consolidate the load. The Roto-Pac found favor in the New York area both with private haulers as well as the DSNY, who had developed the similar Kurtz conveyor trucks of the late 1930's.
