1973 E-Z Pack C-250

The C-250 was the stable mate of the M-200, both introduced in the early 1970's, which represented E-Z Pack's second generation of rear loaders. The "C" designated "Commercial", and this 25 cubic yard packer featured a 2.5 cubic yard hopper, a half yard larger than the M series. This photo clearly shows the unique packing panel system which consisted of a short, track-guided slide panel with conventional external cylinders coupled with and long, curved sweep panel operated by swinging "pusher" cylinders at the rear of the tailgate structure. The model shown was equipped with a cable/pulley hoist arrangement (lifted by the motion of the packing panels) for 1-3 cubic yard containers, as well as an overhead winch for cans up to ten cubic yards capacity.

These rear loaders were the creation of William R. Herpich, a prolific inventor who designed (or contributed to) most of the E-Z Pack product line of the 1960's and 1970's, as well as being part of the early Dempster design team.
