JANUARY, 2006 UPDATE

NEW ALBUMS THIS MONTH
A new years resolution is fulfilled this month, with an all-new Dempster album, replacing the original which was posted over one year ago when this site was first launched. The new album is now nine pages, with far more detail on this famous company that was once the leader in commercial/bulk refuse handling systems. This is the first of the 2006 project to update many of the U.S. Manufacturer albums here at CRT, and more will follow this year as time permits.

NEW FEARTURE:COLLECTORS CORNER
Although model collecting has not been featured very often here at the main website, I just had to post the photos sent to me by Japp Mikkers from The Netherlands. His fantastic collection is surely one of the largest collections of its type in the world, a virtual museum of model refuse trucks. I think you will agree it is quite an impressive display.

Since there is an overwhelming interest in models and collecting among the membership, I have posted these pictures at the Collectors Corner, a new page here at CRT which is accessible from the main menu bar at left. This will probably be an occasional feature, with individual models, collections, repair hints and such.

For those of you with so many pictures you just don't know what to do with them, why not post them at the CRT Members Area at MSN Groups. There is no charge to join, and members get 3MB free photo hosting for anything refuse related.

CRT DOWNLOADS
After a long hiatus, the CRT Downloads feature returns with a selection from the Scott Blake Collection, a vintage six-page Bowles front loader brochure which is now posted. Collectors and enthusiasts will want to have a copy of this rare brochure from a pioneer builder during their "glory years" in the 1960's. These are unreduced, high resolution images which can be downloaded and will make nice quality prints if desired. The Bowles brochure will be available at least until the next update.

REFUSE TRUCKS ON FILM
In many cases, certain classic refuse trucks may only exist as images on films of the past. This month, some new titles have been added to the CRT Films page. The new entries are mostly old promotional films or educational films that are long out of print and have not been reviewed. However, some of these may still be out there, waiting to be found, and would make interesting viewing to say the least. For 2006, the "star" rating system has been eliminated for the films section, and some new still pictures have been added to the page from selected movies and TV episodes.

RUNNING CHANGES TO THE WEBSITE
The CRT Archives page has been redesigned with a simplified index table where past News Updates and Truck of the Month selections are now grouped together by their respective date. By request, I have restored some of the earlier issues that had been deleted recently. All past news updates are once again available, as are all Truck of the month selections except those that appear in other albums here at CRT, with links being there provided.

That's all for now, enjoy the new year !
