SEPTEMBER, 2005 UPDATE

CHANGES TO THE WEBSITE
Another month has come and gone, and I have again found myself unable to update any of the photo albums here at CRT. Unfortunately, I can only add to the site as time permits and lately there just has not been enough of that commodity to suffice !

Aside from the new truck of the month for September, I have added 20 new sites to the Links of Interest page at CRT. Most of these new additions are classified ad websites which feature photos of refuse trucks. Having them grouped together will hopefully be a convenient feature for those of us who periodically "mine" the classifieds for new photos, and I encourage all who do to check out the list and contact CRT if you have any to add.

General guidelines for submissions are as follows:

Submitted sites should be about, or feature refuse trucks.

Photo/classified type sites should have good-to-excellent quality photos. There are hundereds of truck dealers online, but the focus here will be to link to sites with good quality photos of refuse equipment.

The Links of Interest page is accessible from the navigation bar at the left. As with the Industry Links section, I will update the list as often as new submissions are received.

Also, beginning this month, past "Truck of the Month" selections at the CRT Archives are being deleted to conserve space. As of this writing, past News Updates and T.O.M. selections will remain posted for one year, though this time may be shortened in the future. Therefore, if you wish to save any of these for your personal files you should download them frequently.

MEMBERS AREA AT MSN
My thanks to all of you who have contributed photos to the Members Area this summer. Tim Byrne in particular has been providing us with a tremendous show, posting page after page of great pictures from his Bin Holidays in Spain and Greece. For those of us in North America, this is a rare opportunity to see refuse equipment virtually unknown outside of Europe. Be sure to check out these and all of the other pictures at the Members Area. Keep in mind that space there is also limited, and Tim (as well as other contributors) often need to delete older photo albums to make room for the new. As mentioned above, you should download any pictures of interest as soon as possible since they may not remain posted indefinitely.

SD VEHICLES AT BIGGLESWADE, SEPTEMBER 17 and 18
A quick reminder here to those of you in the UK that the SD Enthusiasts Club will hold a vehicle display at the Bedfordshire Steam and County Fayre, at Old Warden Park near Biggleswade (UK) on September 17th and 18th, 2005. Eight preserved SD vehicles are booked to appear, including Steve Jones' 1982 Type PN Revopak, one of two known preserved examples of this famous refuse truck and a perennial favorite among refuse truck enthusiasts. See Brian Carpenter's Unofficial Shelvoke and Drewry Site and click on the "NEWS UPDATE" for further information.

TRUCK RESCUE: GAR WOOD 700 SERIES LOAD-PACKER
This vintage Gar Wood body still needs a home, or will be scrap iron by October. For more information, see the August, 2005 Update at CRT Archives.
