Der Hai (1968) The Shark
Another five-star factory promo film, this time from KUKA showcasing their Type 215 rotary rear loader, known as the Shark. Details every feature including assembly line and on the job performance with a variety of trucks and different types of refuse handled. Of great interest is a motorized scale model of the 215 with a see-through drum, which is fed wood shavings to demonstrate how the system operates. In color, with sound (German language), approximately 30 minutes.

The entire film may viewed in seven parts by clicking the link above. Sincere thanks to Michel Ferro for making this available to CRT.

The Third Pollution (1966)
Reviews progress made and challenges remaining for control of pollution by solid waste disposal operations. A few refuse trucks shown, most notably a DSNY Leach Packmaster, which is quite rare; New York made only one small purchase from Leach , and never repeated the order.

Treasure in a Garbage Can (1954) NR
Documents how Los Angeles salvages and puts to good use refuse and discarded material. Shows operation and sanitary conditions for handling garbage, tin cans, bottles, and other materials which can be salvaged. 20 minutes.
The Unbeatable SD Revopak (1971)
Factory promo film, color but no sound. This film has the feel of a home movie , and Brian Carpenter confirms that it was indeed made by SD Sales Director Jack Wilkinson. Whatever it may lack in sound and production values is more than made up for by thirty minutes of non-stop action. Follows an early (perhaps the first) N-type Revopak on a typical day's work devouring rubbish and furniture. Spectacular truck, with a yellow cab and highly polished alloy body. Detail of the early motor-driven rake is shown, as well as unloading footage. Without doubt, one of the greatest refuse truck films I have ever seen.

The entire film may viewed in seven parts by clicking the link above. Again, many thanks to Jaap Mikkers for making this available to CRT.
