Tom's McLean Service
The Great Remodeling; Part IV, Fuel Tank Removal
February, 1991
S.A.B. Landscaping of McLean was contracted to remove and dispose of the 2,000 gallon heating oil tank that had been in the yard as long as I could remember. The furnace had long ago died, and the tank was taking up a lot of real estate. It was donated to Merrifield Garden Center.
Preparing to drag it out of the yard with a skid loader
Pushing it up to the Lo-Boy trailer. Steve Borcherding (red cap) speaks with the driver (stetson hat) and Rodney Corner (longshoreman).
The black car with tail fins is Frank Kulesa's old Mercury Comet. He used to run it on waste gasoline accumulated from the repair shop.
Lifting one side with the loader...
...then the other
..up on to the deck...
...and on the way to its new home in Merrifield.
