The Great Remodeling; Part V, Another Brick in the Wall
February, 1991
Rich the Bricklayer provided the finishing touch to the main building, extending the the east side brick wall to the back corner. Once again, we had unseasonably mild weather which helped us stay ahead of schedule.
Halfway there

This is the area behind where the brickwork was being done, and where the new concrete floor was poured. At left, you can see the frame for what would soon be the door from the main building to the new parts room. Just to the right of the new door frame (where the R-Max insulation is), you can see the location of the old door, which was boarded up. The ladder stands about where the old oil furnace lived, and behind it is the new entrance to the "freezer", which was the bulk parts room. The original entrance to the freezer was inside the building on the west wall.
The new east side is now painted. Scott Murnan inspects the progress so far.
Everyone was amazed with how it looked, but it wasn't finished yet
The new roof section, alleviating one of the worst eyesores
The old place was becoming unrecognizable...
...and got a new name, "Tom's Lawn & Garden"
The front entrance was the biggest improvement
The "Gray House". That's my '86 Caprice, which once caused Bruce Taylor to go out the window

There was a garage door leading to the basement on the east side, which was abandoned, probably when Poplar Place became Beverly Road, and was widened and linked up with Elm Street in the 1970s. The driveway was partially buried, and this side was always a source of water intrusion into the basement during heavy rains.
"Suite 101" would never be the same

Even the inside got painted; Frank Kulesa puts the finishing touches on the ceiling of the repair shop
