Policar produced a variation of the famous KUKA rotary-drum type rear loader. The drum was rotated by a pinion gear drive, with power coming from a hydraulic motor. Refuse loaded at the rear of the drum is carried forward by a spiral vane during normal rotation, and is emptied by simply reversing the direction with the tailgate opened.
